Krondur gave a furtive glance to each side, checking the passage for any of his fellow Tunnelguards. Seeing he was alone, he set his shield down and leaned against the cold, uneven stone. “Should’ve gone for that cushy Genzacon post” he muttered to himself, as he imagined hot meals and a real bed. A chittering sound echoed down a nearby side-passage, ending his reverie.

“I can send you up to the citadel, if that’s your wish” a deep, smooth voice called out from the narrow tunnel. “Though you may find it less enjoyable than you imagine,” it continued with a chuckle. Krondur took up his shield and drew his sword as a figure emerged from the darkness. It looked to be a tall, handsome man in strange robes, though something about his grinning face was extremely unnerving.

Suddenly Krondur felt a pinch at his neck; overcome with vertigo, he dropped to his knees, and an enormous beetle crawled around onto his chest. Helplessly, Krondur watched as the man’s face unfolded, revealing horrid rows of razor teeth and an impossibly long tripartite tongue. It lashed out at him, thick, acrid-smelling spittle spraying his face… And then, he knew no more.

Adventure Synopsis

The citadel of Genzacon looms over the Gloomport beneath Darkenhaven, standing watch against the horrors which periodically emerge from the passage leading into the Underdelve. Yet all is not well in the redoubtable keep, as there has been a murder amongst the leadership of the Genzacon Guard.

Charged with investigating this unusual killing, you swiftly find that the situation is far more tenuous than you could have imagined. Several others have gone missing in recent days, ever more deadly foes assail the gates, and suspicion is building between life-long allies. The evidence is there to unravel the mystery of the castle, but can you put the pieces together in time?
